Black holes come in very different sizes, from small systems in our galaxy to the largest objects in the Universe. But does being bigger really make a difference? A journey across cosmic scales to find out what changes… and what doesn’t.

(INAF)
Kevin Alabarta has followed black holes and neutron stars across the electromagnetic spectrum, from X-rays to optical and infrared wavelengths. Astronomy has taken him to the UK, the Netherlands and Abu Dhabi, and now to INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Brera, where he is part of the SOXS team, working on a new INAF-led spectrograph installed at ESO’s La Silla Observatory in Chile. He studies how compact objects accrete matter and evolve over time, and enjoys explaining astronomy clearly, simply, and sometimes a bit differently.
